When it comes to reusable period products, there’s no one size fits all
Something the Zero Waste Scotland team discovered first hand when they agreed to share their own experiences of menstrual cups, reusable pads and period pants. Find out how they got on below…
Catherine - Cloth pads are fab, but don’t overdo it on the dance floor!
I started my periods at age 16 in an airport departure lounge, of all places, and ever since have used disposable pads with wings – usually one brand – the cheapest and with pretty pink packaging. I must admit that before working on this campaign, I had heard very little about reusable period products.
Amy - Period pants are pretty popular! Just purchase the right pair!
After many years of using disposable tampons, in my late 30s I had a conversation with a friend who had started using a menstrual cup as she had been having a lot of problems with tampons. She raved about them. She’d had such a positive experience and was happy to share it because the cup had made such a difference to her life.
Eleanor - The cup is my winner. No leaks, no hassle!
It was 2008 and I was living in south-west London for the summer when I first heard of a menstrual cup. One of my flatmates, Nathalia, was a pretty cool German PhD student at Imperial who was very interested in organic food and reducing chemicals in her life.
